With this information, Dr. Wilmarth can determine
if you are a candidate for vision correction and
the best method.
Why are these tests important and what
do they measure?
Health
and Eye History
Certain medical conditions
and medications may not make you a good candidate
for some forms of Vision Correction. For your
safety, it is very important that we understand
your total health before we advise you to undergo
Vision Correction.
Corneal Topography
Two thirds of the focusing power of
the eye occurs on the surface of the cornea.
Our topographer gives a detailed map of the
surface of your cornea. This is invaluable in
assessing the safety of the procedure. Laser
Vision Correction may worsen some corneal diseases,
such as keratoconus. This screening test helps
Dr. Wilmarth determine if you are a good candidate
for Vision Correction.
Corneal Pachymetry
This quick test measures the thickness
of your cornea. Some vision correction procedures
may not be safe on a cornea that is too thin
or too thick.
Pupillometry
The
size of your pupil in the dark is an important
part of your evaluation. We want to prevent
any visual difficulties in low light settings.
We can adjust certain parameters of a Vision
Correction procedure to minimize the possibility
of night vision problems. We routinely discuss
this issue with all of our patients to insure
the best possible result.
Slit
Lamp Biomicroscopy
The Slit Lamp is a high-powered
microscope that allows Dr. Wilmarth to examine
the surface of the eye for any disease. He will
look at the lids, cornea, iris and lens. This
insures that you are a good candidate for Vision
Correction.
Monovision
Status
Clients
in their 40’s and above may experience
difficulty with near vision. This is called
Presbyopia.
One method of improving near vision is called
Monovision.
One eye is corrected to see distance clearly
and other is corrected to see near. Monvision
is successful in over 75% of patients. We can
demonstrate this option at the time of your
consultation.
Financial Status
We are experts in assisting our patients to
find the best financial option for Vision Correction.
Payment plans and discounts are available.
We look forward to meeting you!
