Nearsightedness
Myopia is the medical term for nearsightedness.
Light is focused in front of the retina
causing blurred vision. Without glasses or
contact lenses, a person who is nearsighted
has better near vision than distance vision.
By
changing the shape of the cornea,
LASIK or PRK moves the
image back onto the retina to create a sharp
image. The ICL
corrects higher levels of myopia and eyes
that may not have LASIK because of thin corneas
or dry eyes. Those above the age of 45 may
chose the Crystalens
to see clearly in the distance, near and everywhere
in between.
By
changing the shape of the cornea, LASIK
is able to move the image back onto the retina
to create a sharp image. Extreme cases of
myopia may require the Visian
ICL.
